Ordering Meat

How does online ordering work?

Ordering a beef or pork share is simple and straightforward. Start by selecting the beef or pork share option you’d like on our website and proceed through checkout. The amount paid at checkout serves as a deposit, with the final total varying based on the weight of your animal and the cuts you choose.

Once your deposit is received, you will get a confirmation email securing your meat share reservation. We will provide monthly update emails, but unless you have additional questions, you won’t hear from us again until we get closer to your pick-up date.

Approximately two weeks before your scheduled pick-up, you will receive detailed emails about your custom butcher options, followed by a call from either our team or Zimmerman’s to finalize your order. The final price and invoice will be sent the week before pick-up, and the remaining balance must be paid in full before you collect your meat.

If you have any questions throughout the process, we’re here to help!

How much beef will I get with each option?

A whole grass-fed beef share starts with a 1,100 lb. live animal, which yields about 660 lbs. of hanging weight after butchering. After dry-aging for 12-14 days, expert butchers process the meat, resulting in roughly 60-65% of the hanging weight as packaged cuts.

Whole Beef Share → Yields 400+ lbs. of packaged beef
Half Beef Share → Yields 200+ lbs. of packaged beef
Quarter Beef Share → Yields 100+ lbs. of packaged beef

Final weights may vary based on the cuts you choose.

How is the meat packaged?

All meat will be vacuum sealed and frozen solid unless you communicate otherwise.

How much freezer space will I need?

When purchasing a beef share, it’s important to have enough freezer space to store your meat properly. A good rule of thumb is 1 cubic foot of freezer space per 35-40 lbs. of packaged meat. Here’s how much space you’ll need based on your share size:

Whole Beef Share (~400+ lbs. packaged meat) → 12-16 cubic feet (A large upright or chest freezer)
Half Beef Share (~200+ lbs. packaged meat) → 6-8 cubic feet (A medium-sized chest freezer)
Quarter Beef Share (~100+ lbs. packaged meat) → 3-4 cubic feet (Can fit in a standard freezer with some organization)

If you're unsure about space, stacking the meat efficiently or using vacuum-sealed packaging can help maximize storage. For a visual example of the space you'll need, see our photos below.

What cuts of meat can I expect?

Your beef share will be approximately 40-50% ground beef, 35% roasts, and 25% steaks. We also provide a detailed cut sheet outlining all the specific cuts included in your order, which will be attached for your reference.

What is the fat percentage of your beef?

Our grass-fed beef has a 90/10 lean-to-fat ratio, offering a perfect balance of flavor and nutrition.

What is the benefit of buying in bulk?

Purchasing beef in bulk offers several advantages, including cost savings, convenience, and higher quality meat compared to store-bought options. It allows you to stock up on premium grass-fed beef without the need for frequent trips to the store. Additionally, buying from a local farm supports sustainable agriculture and ensures that your meat comes from cattle raised humanely and without commercial feedlots. Knowing exactly where your beef comes from provides peace of mind and a superior product for your family.

What is the benefit of using tallow?

Tallow has a ton of benefits, but here are just a few:

Deeply Moisturizing – Tallow is rich in natural fats and essential fatty acids, making it highly nourishing for the skin. It helps retain moisture and prevents dryness.

Gentle & Skin-Friendly – Unlike synthetic ingredients, tallow closely resembles the oils naturally produced by human skin, making it great for sensitive skin and those prone to irritation.

Long-Lasting & Hard Bar – Soaps made with tallow are firm and long-lasting, meaning they don’t dissolve quickly like many plant-based alternatives.

Rich, Creamy Lather – Tallow creates a luxurious, creamy lather that cleans effectively without stripping natural oils from your skin.

Eco-Friendly & Sustainable – Using tallow repurposes a natural byproduct from grass-fed animals, reducing waste and promoting sustainable practices.

Non-Toxic & Chemical-Free – Tallow-based soaps and detergents contain no harsh chemicals, synthetic foaming agents, or artificial additives, making them a healthier choice for your skin and home.

Powerful Cleaning Ability – In detergents, tallow works as an effective surfactant, helping to lift dirt and grease naturally without the need for harsh synthetic detergents.

Tallow-based soaps and detergents provide a natural, traditional, and highly effective alternative to commercial products, delivering superior moisturization, longevity, and eco-conscious benefits.

Do your products contain any parabens, phthalates or dyes?

No. Our soaps and detergents are 100% natural.
